Bacon Wrapped Jalapeno Poppers

We tried this recipe out for the 2024 Super Bowl party. We used precooked bacon instead of raw, which cuts down on the total time required to bake. It took me about 30 minutes to prepare this one, which I did ahead of time and then put in the fridge until it was time to bake.

Note to self, jalapeno peppers tend to go quickly around this time of year, so acquire them earlier than the day before. Thankfully the produce man at Food Lion opened a new box for me.

Tools

  • Medium Mixing Bowl
  • Cookie sheet
  • Aluminon foil
  • Cooking spray

Ingredients

  • 12 jalapeno peppers approximately 3-4 inches long
  • 1 block cream cheese (8 ounce), softened
  • 1 cup pepper jack cheese
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon pepper
  • 12 slices bacon do not use thick cut
  • cooking spray

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees.
  2. Line the cookie sheet with foil and coat with cooking spray.
  3. Cut the jalapenos in half lengthwise and remove the seeds and ribs.
  4. In the medium mixing bowl, combine the cream cheese, pepper jack cheese, onion powder, salt and pepper.
  5. Fill each jalapeno half with cheese mixture and arrange on cookie sheet.
  6. Wrap / line jalapeno halves with bacon.
  7. Bake for 20-25 minutes until bacon is crispy and browned. Cooking time may vary if using precooked bacon. Serve immediately.
